Peace and Quiet in the Urban Squall
Here is a quick list of activities that can leave you smiling in a chaotic world.
- Make plans to create special moments, whether on your own or with others. Make them something new – experiences that get you out of your box.
- Take pictures. They are great for remembering what is good in your life.
- Put an effort into nurturing yourself. Take a bath with candles. If you’re not a bath person, go get a massage.
- Take walks. Get yourself outside of your work or your house to take in nature and the world around you. Pay attention to your environment.
- Eat well and exercise routinely. Yes, we’d all like to veg at the end of the day, but push yourself a little and you will feel better.
- Set short-term goals that are achievable. You’ll benefit from the sense of fulfillment and find yourself accomplishing more over the long term.
- Keep a journal. Putting your thoughts to paper can be cathartic.
- Try and learn something new. When we challenge ourselves in some way, we feel better about ourselves.
- Make eye contact with people. It let’s them know you are listening to them when they talk.
- Find something you like that you can get involved in and develop a new skill.
- Make lists to feel organized. You can feel really lost some days. Make a list of things to do and then cross things off as you get them done.
- Read books. You’ll challenge yourself, learn something and keep growing.
